Origin and Vision
The idea for CELPS was born in 1990, when Iddrisu Mumuni Dimbie was teaching at the Ghana Institute of Languages (GIL). He observed that foreign students, particularly those from non-English-speaking countries, were finding it difficult to adapt to conventional English teaching methods. Convinced that a specific approach was needed for these learners, he set about developing appropriate teaching materials. His aim was to demystify learning English for non-English speakers and provide them with the tools they needed to excel in this language, which is essential for their professional development.
Expansion of CELPS
Thanks to Dimbie’s strategic vision and leadership, CELPS quickly gained an international reputation. This dazzling success has enabled the institute to attract students not only from Africa, but also from Europe and Asia. Today, CELPS has several branches in Ghana, notably in Alajo and New Town, and has extended its influence beyond national borders by establishing partnerships with schools and institutions in other African countries, such as Guinea, Burkina Faso, Gabon, Congo and Chad. This expansion testifies to the effectiveness of the CELPS method and its adaptability to different cultural and linguistic contexts.
